The family of Ernie Harrison sadly announces his peaceful passing at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, on February 10, 2022, in his 83rd year. Cherished husband and best friend of Viva Harrison (nee Bertrand) for nearly 40 years. Ernie was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec to Patrick and Lucette Harrison. Ernie and Viva resided on the South Shore of Lake Nipissing for many years, before moving to North Bay.

Ernie is predeceased by his brother, Eddie Harrison, and sister Isobel Brodie-Brown.

Ernie is survived by his loving wife Viva Harrison, brother Gerry Harrison of St.Catharines, sister Mary Ramson of Kingston, Jamaica, sister-in-laws Dianne St. Croix (Robert Morrow) of Tilden Lake and Georgia Harrison (wife of the late Eddie Harrison), step-son Richard Beilhartz (Karen) and granddaughters; Alexandra, Natalie and Cameron of Fergus, Ontario and the following nieces and nephews: Eddie and Georgia’s children, Pat and Shelley Harrison, Jeff and Colleen Harrison, Sandra and Toni Tollasepp; Isobel’s children, Heather Brodie-Brown, Jennifer Brodie-Brown, Peter and Franka Brodie-Brown; Gerry’s children, Leigh and James Coulter, Kristen and Chris Legge, Trevor and Crystal Harrison; and Mary’s children, Christopher and Shawna Ramson, Phillip and Karen Ramson, and Richard and Claire Ramson.

Ernie had a long and distinguished career in the mining industry and loved the outdoors. He spent many hours on Lake Nipissing with Viva, and in travelling the world with his mining business.

Ernie was a courageous fighter, with any challenge he faced, including his illness. He was a kind and generous man, who truly enjoyed good conversation. Ernie’s family would like to thank Dr. Laura Kistemaker and the attending staff at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, for their care and compassion.  At Ernie and Viva’s request, there will be no visitation or funeral at this time, however family and friends will be invited to a Celebration of Ernie’s Life at a future date, yet to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the North Bay Regional Health Centre in Ernie’s memory would be appreciated.
