HAMPEL, William Frederick

Passed away with family at his side at the North Bay General Hospital on Monday December 4th, 2006 at the age of 82 yrs after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Betty Godin. Dear father of Jenny (Chuck Potts), Randy, Becky (Keith Ganton), Kirby (Maryann Hill), Sandi, Stacy (Lowney), Marcy (John Summers). He will be sadly missed by his 20 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Also survived by brothers Max Rudiger (June), Paul Rudiger (Chick) as well as brothers and sisters-in-law Mary Lou (Henry deceased), Danny Godin (Bonny), Myrna (Russell deceased), Carole (Pat), Elaine (Ian), John.



Bill was in the 2nd Core 31st Regiment Field Engineer as a dispatch driver during WWII. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 415, Port Loring. Bill worked as a correctional officer for 31 years after which he became a commissionaire for the city of North Bay. He will always be remembered as a wonderful husband and dad who had a love for hunting, fishing and family.



A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday December 6th at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd, from 1:30 until time of memorial service at 2:00 pm. Donations in memory of Bill to the Canadian Cancer Society would be gratefully acknowledged by his family.
