HALLIWELL, Helen Margaret

Helen died peacefully at home during the evening of July 13, 2007, at the age of 95. Helen was born in Cornwall, Ontario on September 10, 1911 and has resided in Cornwall, Kingston, St.Catherines, Temiscaming and North Bay. Helen was predeceased by her husband Percy Nichols Halliwell who died in 1991. Helen is survived by her children; Jane Halliwell-Deer of North Bay, John Halliwell (Mary Lou) of Calgary and Margaret Halliwell (Don MacDonald) of Toronto. Helen will be sadly missed by her eight grandchildren: Natalie, Jennifer and Matthew of Calgary, Emily and Shannon of Toronto and Greg (Maria) of Winnipeg, Shawn (Rhonda) of Waterloo, Susan of Ottawa and by her two great grandchildren Megan and Ethan of Waterloo. Helen is also predeceased by her siblings Leslie Oliver (Martha) of Binghamton, NY and Jessie Liddell (Bill) of St.Catharines. Her family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the wonderful care and friendship given to Helen over the last few years by Donna Boal, Janet Parks, Cindy Meir, Cheryl Cormier, Apryl Westaway, Linda Hughes, Linda Davies, Audrey Heward and also wishes to thank Pastor Bob Rittenhouse and his wife Susan for their spiritual support and Dr. Stemp for his medical care.



Helen has been a long standing member and active participant as a member of the Baptist Church throughout her lifetime. More recently she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Gideon's and the Mission Circle of First Baptist Church in North Bay. Helen, after graduation from Secretarial College, was employed with an Insurance firm in Kingston, until her marriage to Percy in 1937. She was devoted to her family throughout her life and was the anchor and the organizer of many successful family events, occasions and vacations. She loved the outdoors and traveling, camping and cottaging with her family. Helen was also dedicated to pursuing her artistic interests. She was active in expressing herself in fashion, sketching, working in copper, oil painting, water colours and china painting.



Cremation will take place at the Forest Lawn Cemetery and Crematorium. A Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church (1250 Cassells Street) on Thursday, July 19th at 2:00 PM. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of fellowship one hour prior to the service. If desired, donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy. Arrangements entrusted to the MARTYN FUNERAL HOME (across from City Hall).
