Passed away suddenly at his home in North Bay on Friday, June 10th, 2005. A highly respected journalist for more than 40 years, Arnie brought a unique, inspired perspective to his writing. His pioneering work on native issues during the 1970s is regarded as some of the finest journalism this country has ever produced. Writing his final column just a day before his death he wrote; "I have no intention of putting my feet up. I love what I do and there's still stories that have never been written." Arnie is survived by his son Mark and former wife Bettina. A private memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., June 16th at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES. A public memorial is scheduled in his honour on Thursday, June 16th at 6 p.m. at the North Bay Rotary Gazebo, located at the North Bay Waterfront. He will be missed but never forgotten.
