GUENETTE,, Jean

Posted

Peacefully on Monday, June 5, 2006 at the North Bay General Hospital in his 89th year. He was predeceased by his brothers David, Louvain (Smokey) and Yvon. He will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews; Pat (Marc Picard) of North Bay, Pierre of Australia ,Richard ( Rebecca) of Ottawa, Pauline and Bucco of Montreal. He was "Uncle Johnny" to many others especially the Mantha family: Ray, Vicky, Max, Alex and Morgan.

An athlete in his youth he excelled at hockey and football. He worked at Canada Post for 40 years until his retirement in 1983. In 1953 he purchased a log cottage on Trout Lake and built a permanent home in 1970. It was the hub of extended family activity where horseshoe and cribbage tournaments were almost daily summer occurrences.

An extremely shy and modest person he remained a bachelor his entire life. In recent years, he spent his winters at the Empire Living Centre, where the staff adopted ""JP"" as a favoured guest. We will all miss his wit and humour.
Family receiving friends at the McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME, Friday from 12:00 p.m. till time of service at 1:00 p.m. in the McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to the N.B.G.H. Foundation would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
