Larry was born at home on the family dairy farm and graduated from Brockville Collegiate. He served overseas in WWII as a Flying Officer with the RCAF, 425 French Canadian Allouette Squadron from 1940 to 1944, and saw duty in North Africa and Italy. He joined the Bank of Toronto in Brockville in 1938 and moved up the ranks to manager, working at branches in Owen Sound, Preston, Peterborough, Kitchener, North Bay, and finally Ottawa. He was an active supporter of numerous service clubs, including Kiwanis, Kinsmen, Chamber of Commerce, Canadian Legion, Cancer Society, and Masonic Lodge, to name a few. After 45 years in the bank, he retired in July 1983 and returned to the beloved home he and Betty had built on Tilden Lake near North Bay, where they spent the next 18 years. In 2001 they relocated to Wilmot Creek in Newcastle. Larry and Betty traveled extensively throughout their lives together and especially enjoyed their retirement years trailering about North America and taking several cruises. Friends and family remember Larry as a kind, gentle man with a warm smile, curious about people and things, and always willing to listen. He was honest and fair-minded and always gave his best efforts to his family and career. Larry was loved and admired by all who knew him.
