Passed away peacefully at North Bay Regional Hospital on March 14, 2024, at the age of 97.
Father of Barbara Jones, beloved grandfather of Brett Walsh, Wayne Walsh (Sandra) and Ann Drawdy (David). Sadly, missed by great grandchildren Claire, Burke and Nicholas Walsh, Lisa, and Emily Nisbett. Great great grandfather of Daniel and Maddy. Howard will be missed by his nephews Doug Mills (Pat) and Mark Gransden (Jennifer).
Howard was predeceased by his wife Lillian (LaPierre), parents Audrey and George Gransden, brother Ken, sister Ruth Sundset and son-in-law Jeff Jones.
Howard was born and raised in Meaford, Ontario. He was a proud veteran of WWII, deployed overseas from North Bay. He had a successful career with the MTO which culminated in a return to North Bay to work several years until retirement. In his retirement Howard enjoyed winters in Florida where he played golf and enjoyed life at Betmar in Zephyr Hills.
Howard’s final years were spent in North Bay at the Empire Living Center. Howard spoke highly of all the staff at the Empire Living Center who went above and beyond to make him feel at home.
The family would like to thank Dr. Blackadar and the physicians from Northern Shores Medical Clinic and all the nurses on C3.
At Howard’s request, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. As expressions of sympathy donations to Dying with Dignity (MAID) or the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
