Gerald Robineau

Posted

With sorrowful hearts, we announce that Gerry passed away peacefully at North Bay Civic Hospital on Sunday, January 23 at the age of 54. Beloved husband of Susan; and brother to Yvan Robineau (Denise); Marcel Robineau (predeceased) (Lorraine); Diane Misch (Wally); Suzanne Delorme (Fern predeceased); Linda MacGregor (Denis); and Gisele Gaudet (Serge). Gerry was predeceased by his father and mother: Leode and Gertrude Robineau. A special son-in-law to Noreen Cooke and brother-in-law to Debie Archer (Larry) and Cindy Orchard (Dave). His many nieces and nephews have a special place in their hearts for Gerry.
A ‘people person’, Gerry’s career path was rich in its diversity. A natural leader, he was President of Franco Cité Secondary School. A graduate of the Radio and Television Arts program at Algonquin College, he was employed at CBC, and later worked in sales advertising at CFCL Radio in Timmins, CFCH Radio in North Bay and the North Bay Nugget. He worked for many years in the Public Affairs department at Canadore College. Gerry was very proud of the opportunity to serve as special assistant to MP Jean-Jacques Blais. He also immensely enjoyed his part-time work at the Canadian Bible Society and a brief employment period at the North Bay Animal Hospital, until his illness prevented him from continuing to work.
He had many passions including movies, poetry, drawing, music, the arts and photography. Everyone who knew him knew of his love of animals, especially his cats.
Gerry leaves behind so many who loved him and who were loved by him. A devoted husband, special brother and wonderful friend, he touched others’ lives with his example of faithfulness and encouragement. Using his wonderful gift of humour, he brought laugher and joy to all who knew him. He was a sensitive man who always pursued peace.
A man of deep faith, he was steadfast in his commitment to the Lord. He was very active in his church, including the Worship Band and he and Sue shared a commitment to their ministries with couples including many years serving as Coordinators of Marriage Encounter and marriage preparation courses.
It is impossible to outline in a brief space how precious Gerry was to so many of us. We have been richly blessed to have shared our life with him. We rejoice knowing that he is now completely healed and has gone to his eternal home.
A special thank you to Gerry’s doctors and the wonderful nurses for their personal and compassionate care.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Martyn Funeral Home on Thursday, January 27 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. The service will be held on Friday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Brice’s Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted to St. Brice’s Church; LUPUS Canada or the North Bay General Hospital.
