Iona Fricker

It is with great sorrow that the family of Iona Blanche Fricker (nee Pulver) announces her peaceful passing on Wednesday, October 20 th , 2021 at Waters Edge Care Community at the age of 91. Iona is the beloved wife of William Eli (“Will”, or “Bill”) Fricker, cherished in their marriage of 66 years, and loving mother of Michael (Guylaine), Harlie (Monica), and John (Tracey). Surviving family members include her dear brother-in-law Fred, Jessie and John Laite, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all. Iona is predeceased by brothers Lloyd (Marie), and Norman (Evelyn). Iona served as a Military Police Officer before marrying Will at the RCAF Station Chapel in Bagotville, Quebec on August 13 th , 1955. Iona and Will faithfully attended Laurentian Wesleyan Methodist Church after moving to North Bay where Will taught at Canadore College following years teaching in Churchill MB then Lively ON. Summers were spent enjoying their cottage on Talon Lake. Iona will be remembered lovingly by so many family friends, especially those who considered her to be their “second Mom”. Iona was completely devoted to family, sincerely cared for all, and known for her endearing quick wit, always delivered with love. The family would like to thank the Health Care Team at Waters Edge Care Community in North Bay for many years of tender care. If desired, donations to the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Respecting her wishes, there will only be a cremation and no visitation. Online condolences can be made at www.martynfh.com.
