FRANCHI, Norm

Passed away at North Bay General Hospital, Scollard Site, Thursday, March 8, 2007 at the age of 72. Norm Franchi was the beloved husband of Sylvia (née Rewakowsky) and loved father of Jeff (Lori) of Guelph, Vicki of North Bay and Lara (Aubrey Friesner) of Toronto. He will be lovingly remembered by two grandchildren, Alicia and Emily. Dear brother of Louis (Marie-deceased) and Shirley Franchi both of Thunder Bay. Predeceased by his parents, Netta and Joseph Franchi, two sisters, Marie Krasniuk and Rita Swanson and one brother, John Franchi.

In his younger days, in Thunder Bay, Norm played hockey, fastball and softball. He also enjoyed bowling and curling. Norm was a member of North Bay Golf and Country Club. An avid sportsman, Norm loved to watch the Detroit Red Wings and continued to skate with the seniors after retiring. In 1958 he started working at Twin City Gas in Thunder Bay . Norm was transferred to Toronto in 1966-69 then transferred to North Bay where he retired from Union Gas after 40 years of service in the gas industry. He was a Knight of Columbus 4th Degree member and a past Grand Knight of the Corpus Christi Council. Norm was a member of the A.C.T. for 30 years.

Friends paid their respects at MCGUINTY FUNERAL HOME, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral mass was be celebrated at Corpus Christi Church, Monday at 10:30 a.m. Entombment of cremated remains at All Saints Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery.
