Ming peacefully passed away on June 6, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 11, 1950, to Tom and Barbara Fong, and grew up alongside his siblings: Lotus Tutton (Fong), Waun Fong, and Ty Fong. Ming's dedication to his work was evident as he served the Ministry of Transportation for 30 years before retiring, to indulge in his passion for angling, hunting, and spending more cherished moments at the lake.

Ming was blessed with three children: Michael Fong, Brandie Fong, and Kimberly Munro (Adam). His grandchildren: Kelsie Munro, Kyesha Fong, and Benjamin Munro, held a special place in his heart. He shared a special bond with Kyesha, nurturing her passion for guitar, archery, fishing, and relishing their shared interests.

Ming's journey through life was shaped by the love and companionship of his partners. His late wife, Elsie Cole-Fong, was a source of unwavering support and boundless love. Later, Donna Fong entered his life, bringing warmth and solace to his heart as his beloved surviving partner.

In addition to his immediate family, Ming embraced his extended family. He welcomed his step-children, Kevin and Debbie Cole, as well as Nick and Catherine Holden, into his heart. Ming's love knew no boundaries, extending to his great-grandsons, Hudson and Hunter, who affectionately referred to him "Big Papa."

Ming expressed deep gratitude for the compassionate care provided by his PSW, Frank from CarePartners, whose assistance and companionship brightened his days. The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Leckie for the kindness and care shown throughout Ming's journey.

Honouring Ming's wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to express sympathy, Ming and family have kindly requested donations be made to the Nipissing First Nation Food Bank. Contributions can be sent to [email protected], (Please Note: Food Bank Donation – Ming Fong).

Ming will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His love and generousity will forever be remembered in our hearts.
