FITZPATRICK, John “Barry“

Posted

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barry, at the age of 61, on Thursday Dec 21, 2006 peacefully, after a brief illness, surrounded by his family. Beloved husband and soul-mate of Jacquie, proud and adored father of Lee Anne and Sean. Loving son of Betty Flanagan (Charlottetown) and the late John Fitzpatrick. Dear brother of Bill (Cheryl) Ottawa, Bob (Sheila) Fredericton, Carole (Greg) Charlottetown. Cherished brother-in- law of Bob (Sandra) Mississauga. Devoted uncle of Craig, Jennifer, Kyle, Cassandra, Nikki and Darren. Was dearly loved by his late in-laws, Gertie and Jim Lafontaine.

Blessed with integrity and a positive attitude, he will be sadly missed by many friends and co-workers. A resident of Erin Mills since 1971, he was a Beaver Scout leader, coached hockey and softball. During his remarkable 41-year career at Goodyear Canada, he received the national spirit award, worked with Toronto Ambulance's Teddy Bear program, campaigned for United Way for 25 years, and organized events to raise funds for charity.

The family wishes to thank James Coulter, President, Goodyear Canada and Bruce Farr, Chief of Toronto EMS for their loyal support. The kind care of Dr. Murray Davidson and the staff of St. Joseph's Health Centre is truly appreciated.

Friends called at the TURNER AND PORTER “PEEL“ CHAPEL, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of QEW) on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service to be held in the Chapel, Thursday December 28th at 3 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Burial at a later date.

Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Barry believed that “smiling is contagious...everyone needs a smile“.
