It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William “Harold” Fiss, husband of Mary MacDonald “Molly” Fiss (nee Weir).
On Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at 8:47 pm, Harold passed very peacefully into the presence of His Lord and Saviour with his wife, Molly, and family at his side. Harold was 86 years young.
The legacy that he established will be continued in his children and their spouses: Terry and Alice (PEI), Cathy and Jeff (Cambridge), Gordon and Brenda (North Bay) and Greg and Leslie-Dawn (Kitchener). It will continue through his grandchildren: Matthew Scott, Meghan Scott, Michel (Joanna) Fiss, Jason (Hillary) Fiss, Tracey Fiss, Tyler (Kristen) Fiss, Blaine Fiss, Kelsey (Curtis) Godsey. As well it will continue through his great grandchildren: Dean Fiss, Grant Fiss, Jesse Fiss and Leena Fiss.
Harold is also survived by 3 sisters: Isabel Swant (Arnprior), Betty-Anne (Alan) Leck (Orangeville), and Karen (Earl) Stevenson (Brampton).
As a family we rejoice at his example of faith and his love as a Shepherd. We are also not fearful of "the valley of the shadow of death" for the Lord is very near and we have the promise that we will meet again.
Harold was an example to us of Godly maturity in Christ. He was a great Bible scholar, Teacher, Preacher and Shepherd. He was a Peacemaker and Mediator: he offered sound Biblical counsel and guidance and he challenged many to think using a Biblical perspective. He felt obligated to direct others to the Lord Jesus and he also sought to train and develop others in their faith. He gave of his time and his freedoms for the benefit of others while serving His Lord and glorifying Him. To his children he demonstrated daily what it was to be a God-fearing husband and loving father. Through his gentleness and his love, his interest and his concern, his patience and his humility, he demonstrated to us who God, our Father, is. He loved to laugh and he loved the fellowship of the saints but above it all He loved His Lord and wanted the light to shine on Him. He never feared death and was always comforted by the Lord’s words in Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave you nor forsake you”. Dad understood that even death itself could do nothing to disrupt the promises of God and knew that, even in death, the reality of their bond would be strengthened for all eternity. A humble Servant and Soldier of the King has departed this earth. He was greeted by the Savior who stood for his arrival and greeted him with the words, “Well done thou good and faithful servant. Enter now into the joy of the Lord.”
