Marty (Martin) Ellam joined his beloved wife Cheryl Caldwell-Ellam on May 24, 2023, having died at the age of 57.

Marty is survived by his son Mitchell Ellam, and his step-children, Mark, Kayla and Krista as well as his niece Rachael. Marty was the son of the late Lambert Moore and Clara Saylors. He is also survived by his siblings Carol Ellam, and Stanley Moore.  Marty and Carol were adopted by the Ellam family, who include his late adoptive mother Vivian whom he cherished deeply, and her children, Stephen, Jim, and Andy, and his sister Pat. Through love and marriage, he survives through many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Marty was a friend to all.  He took special care to make people laugh, and would be the first to lend a helping hand.  Marty was full of love, and so touched the lives of many community members.  Marty’s playful and competitive spirit made him a valued teammate on the basketball court, and a formidable opponent in cribbage or chess. He was moved by curiosity, and loved to tinker. He could often be found tuning up his bicycle or a car to reach peak performance before taking them out for a ride.. He loved to feel the wind in his hair, both on the road and on the trails.

Marty will be deeply missed by all that knew him. While he may be gone from us, we know that he is in a better place.

A Celebration of Life for Marty will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Martyn Funeral Home (464 Wyld St. North Bay). Memorial Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm, followed by a service at 1:00pm.

Donations in Marty’s memory may be made to [email protected].  Funds will be dedicated to settling his affairs and any remaining funds will be donated to the North Bay KidSport Chapter, to increase youths’ access to sports. Alternatively, donations can be made directly to Kidsport North Bay.
