Died peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site, on Monday, October 20th, 2008, at the age of 88 years. Born in North Cobalt on December 29, 1919, Betty was the beloved daughter of the late Robert & Mary Dods. Dear sister of Robert Dods. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her niece Dianne Bannister and her husband Jeff of North Bay and their daughter Terri, and her nephew Robert of Beaconsfield, Quebec and his son Alexander. Betty was a survivor along with her family of the Haileybury fire of 1922. She taught public school for over thirty two years, retiring in the 1970's. Betty graduated from Teachers College in North Bay in the 40's, then went on to teach in Buck Lake, Widdifield, Warren, Haileybury, Sault Ste. Marie and finally North Bay. She taught at the old Queen Victoria Public (corner of Worthington & Ferguson) and Dr. McDougall Schools. Special thanks to the staff and chaplain of 6 west, Scollard site and the staff of Empire Living Centre. In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. No visitation or funeral service.
