On Tuesday December 6, 2022, Gerald Gene Dobbs, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, passed into the presence of his Lord Jesus at age ninety. He is predeceased by his first wife, Mary (36 years) and his second wife, Betty (20 years). He was born in Port Loring, and lived most of his life in North Bay where he served on the staff of Canadore College for 22 years. Gerry enjoyed reading local history, gardening, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and walking ― and brightened the day of many a North Bay resident as he pleasantly greeted them along the trails, and stopped for a chat with whomever he met. He was a faithful part of Bethel Gospel Chapel and will be deeply missed within that community. He will also be missed by his four children ― Ruth McLaren (Jim), Lois Bishop (Garry), Gloria Martin (Don), and John Dobbs (Pier-Luce), his ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters Carol Nicholls, and Joyce Watson.
Visitation will be held in the Martyn Funeral Home on Sunday, December 11th, from 2:00-4:00 PM, and at Bethel Gospel Chapel (781 Tackaberry Drive, North Bay) on Monday, December 12th from 10:00 am until time for Funeral Services at 11:00 am. Spring interment in the family plot at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Golden Valley.
