Richard went peacefully home to his Father, with his wife by his side, after a journey with Alzheimer’s on April 11, 2024. Richard is survived by his beloved wife and best friend, Patricia Dinnes (nee Hall), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. He will be deeply missed by his children, Christopher Dinnes (Laura) and Kerri Guzzo (Gene), as well as his cherished grandchildren: Courtney Dinnes, Charley Horodziejczyk (Andrew), Steven Dinnes (Sabrina), Joseph Guzzo, and Katelyn Guzzo. Richard also leaves behind three great-grandchildren: Hailey and Hanna Horodziejczyk, and Brooks Dinnes. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Dinnes (Sharon), and nieces Donna Lee, Tracy, and nephew Geoffrey, along with their families. Richard's cousins, Karen Deredin (Paul) and Gail Ethier (Ron predeceased), also mourn his passing.

Richard was a dedicated member of the North Bay community. After retiring from the North Bay Nugget, he worked tirelessly to support the North Bay Food Bank, with the aim of helping them acquire their own building. His volunteer efforts extended to organizations such as the Gathering Place, N.B. Regional Hospital, and the Santa Fund. He was also an active member of the Pro Cathedral parish, serving as a Eucharistic minister and funeral helper. A proud lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1007, Richard's faith and service were integral parts of his life. His impact on the community and his legacy of kindness and generosity will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

A mass to celebrate Richard's life will be held at the Pro-Cathedral on Friday May 17th at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pro-Cathedral Roofing Fund or the Alzheimer’s Society in Richard's memory. A special thank you to the wonderful staff of Au Château and the Alzheimer’s Society. Online condolences may be left at www.martynfh.com.
