Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on February 15, 2016 in his 78th year. Dearly loved husband of Elsbeth (nee Hossbach) of 55 years. Loving father of Ron (Lynda Noble), Susie Palumbo, Debbie Dillig and Donald (Christina Myles). Cherished grandfather of Luc, Joshua, Ryan, Skylar and 2 great grandchildren and his special grandchild Keira Bruneau. Dear brother of Jakob, his twin brother Heinz and Karl Detlev. Predeceased by his parents; Jakob and Sophie (nee Birlenberg) and his brother William. Peter was a champion boxer in Germany and fought in CHCH Saturday Night Fights in 1960’s. He also was an avid Maple Leafs Fan and was happy to experience all of their Stanley Cup wins. Peter was an outstanding organic chemist and manufacturing engineer especially in phenol-formaldehyde resins- the foundation for an admirable career. Reichhold Chemical, Bakelite Thermosets and Tembec benefited greatly from the determination, imagination and technical capability of this gentleman. Reichhold’s North Bay plant was designed, constructed and operated under Peter’s responsibility. His consulting role at Bakelite (Canada and USA) was invaluable during its major expansion into the wafer board resin market. Tembec’s phenolic resin plant in Temiscaming was the responsibility of Peter from design to full management of all departments including Research & Development and Marketing. The Oriented Structural Board (OSB) and plywood industries bear the trademarks of a well-respected and dedicated professional. The family would like to thank the CCU nurses at the North Bay Regional Health Centre as well as Dr. Gulach and the staff in the Nephrology Unit at Health Sciences North-Sudbury for their excellent care of Peter. Thank you to McGuinty Funeral Home for supporting the family with such excellent care.  Family will be receiving visitors at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.  A private family service will be celebrated. Cremation will take place at Whispering Pines Funeral Home Crematorium. Donations to North Bay Regional Health Center- ICU or Health Sciences North- Sudbury- Nephrology Unit would be gratefully appreciated by his family.
