Passed away peacefully at the North Bay General Hospital - Scollard Site on Sunday September 30, 2007. Beloved wife of Ralph Currie. Dear mother of Andrew Currie of North Bay and Christen Currie of Woodstock. She will be sadly missed by her grandson Connor Currie. Predeceased by her parents Tom and Bessie Read.
Doreen graduated from the Royal Victorian Hospital in Barrie and then spent 5 years working as a nurse in Calgary and Vancouver before returning home to North Bay where she worked in the pediatric ward at the Civic Hospital. She enjoyed quilting with the ladies from St Brice's Church, and was a strong supporter of the Heritage Carousel and her adopted horse “Big Hoss“.
Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Rd, on Wednesday October 3rd, 2007 from 12:30 until time of funeral service at 2:00 pm. Cremation to follow. Donations in memory of Doreen to the North Bay General Hospital Foundation or to the Shriner's Hospital will be gratefully acknowledged by her family.
