CORRIVEAU, Marcel (1935-2005)

Peacefully, with great dignity, and surrounded by his devoted children, Marcel passed away at the Sudbury Regional Hospital, following a courageous battle with Leukemia. Marcel was predeceased by his loving companion Alice Veltri, his parents Theodore and Berthe Corriveau, his brother Donald and sister Annabelle Menard, his nephew Terry McDonnell and his brother-in-law Gerry Lanthier. He leaves to sadly mourn, his adored sons Donald Douglas (Louise) of Cobalt and Marcel Theodore (Carolyn) of North Bay, and his cherished grandchildren Nikki and Adam Joseph (AJ). He is also survived by his sisters Dolores Lanthier and Estelle Corriveau of Ottawa and by his brothers Roger of Arnprior and Jerry (Dale) of Timmins. He will be greatly missed by his nephews Thomas Lanthier, Daryl, Mark and Allan Corriveau, Shawn, Robert and Danny Menard and loving nieces Sherree-Anne and Charlene Menard, Eryn and Jacey Corriveau and Tina Deraino. He will also be remembered by Alice's children Sam (Susan) and Victor (Jane) and her grandchildren Sherri (Tiny), Shawn, Sharron, their mother Valerie, Anthony and Joseph. Marcel was born in Cochrane where he left for North Bay in his teens to work for the ONR, taking early retirement in 1989 from the position of Manager of Freight Marketing. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, boating and travelling. He will be greatly missed by his dear friends with whom he shared many of these pastimes. Marcel also devoted many years to coaching minor hockey in West Ferris, refereeing and along with Alice, also enjoyed bowling and dancing. He was especially proud of the fact that his West Ferris team captured the North American Silver Stick Championship. Marcel chaired a very successful 1970 West Ferris Atom Tournament. He was an avid golfer and a long time member at the North Bay Golf and Country Club. Family receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Road, today, August 18th from 2 until 4 and 7 until 9 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held on Friday, August 19th at 10:30 a.m. at Sts-Anges Church, 232 Maplewood Avenue, North Bay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the North Bay KidSport, a local charity helping needy children participate in the sport of their choice.
