COLBOURNE (nee Soucie): Lereena

Posted

10 October 1926 – 23 January 2011
Our father knew she was an angel. We knew her love for us was unconditional.
In the comfort of her own home on the Ottawa River she passed on to the world she believed in and into the arms of those waiting to show her a new beginning. Her faith was strong and she was brave while she fought her battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Donald Colbourne, and their infant son, Donald Jr.; her parents, Simon Soucie and Hannah (nee Therrien); brothers, Kenneth, Alfred, Robert and Simon and sisters, Celina, Nora, Rita, and Blanche. Survived by her children, Charlene (Tricia Fox) of Australia, Michael (Nancy) of Restoule, Sandi (Tom McClements) and Dennis (Joyce) of North Bay. Lovingly remembered by her brother, Aldage Soucie in Mattawa and sister, Kathleen Lamothe in Windsor. Grandmother to Jason and Scott Gibson, Michelle West, Ruth-Ann Mantha, Cara-Lee Lyttle, Jody-Lynn Pitt, Meagan Colbourne, Donald John Colbourne, Simon Colbourne, Bailey Hill, Charley, Sam and Emma Bates. Great Grandmother to Bradley, Riley and Travis Gibson, Anika and Seth Gibson-Craig, Mackenzie Tennant, Branwyn and Aidan Lyttle, Austin and James Mantha, Jocelyn and Jacob Pitt, Zackery van Duesen , Madison and Lachlan West . Adopted grandma to Melanie, Lucas, Ebony, Sonjia and Shannen in Australia.
Her childhood memories; those as a wife and parent; her role as a sister and in-law; fierce loyalty to her family and friends and her humble willingness to volunteer leave a legacy to be admired.
Our mother had many friends. Her memory was extraordinary and she shared many stories with us of her days as a young mother on Angus Street and the years with our father; working in CSR at the old St. Joseph’s hospital; bingo and the casino; the Catholic Womens League and the Golden Age in Mattawa.
For those she spoke to daily: Irene, Theresa, Rose, Marie and others, please stay in touch with each other. She’d like that.
