Arnold ‘Arnie’ Russell Cline, born May 25, 1932, to Marjorie Robinson and William Ernest Cline, in New Liskeard, ON
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Arnold Cline, at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the age of 89. Loving husband of 68 years to Elva (nee Lynett). Proud father of John Cline, Colleen Wilhelm (Andy Wilhelm), Thompson Cline (Carole Galarneau), and Shawna Cline (Denis Barbe). Predeceased by his brother Ivan Cline, sister Anita Myelde (Roy), brother Harold Cline (Lorna), sister Fern Downey (Ted, predeceased), and Bunny Zupancic (John) of Toronto. Missed by his sisters Marion Carswell (Jack) of Huntsville, Betty Stewart (Wayne) of Kirkland Lake, Marjorie Lewis (Francis, predeceased) of Hudson’s Hope, B.C. He will be greatly missed by his eight grandchildren Leigh Anne, Michael, Caitlin (Dave), Courtney, Brandon, Melanie (Mark), Patrick (Mercedes), Barrett, and six great grandchildren Elliot, Sadie, Kendall, Kennedy, Kensley, and Carter. Arnold will also be missed by his many friends and relatives.
In 1967, Arnold became the proud founder of Thermo Coustics Ltd., which has been an integral part of the construction industry for over fifty years. As a 2002 inductee into the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame, Arnold was recognized for his service to football as a quarterback, official, executive, and fundraiser for more than 40 years. Arnold was involved in many community groups, including memberships and holding various offices at Omond Memorial United Church, North Bay Golf and Country Club, The Kiwanis Club of North Bay, Associated Canadian Travelers, Nipissing Masonic Lodge No. 420, and Rameses Shrine Club.
Arnold’s 68-year marriage to Elva, and the family they built together, was his true pride. Arnold met Elva through a friend and the two were married at St. Andrew’s United Church in 1953. Their marriage was filled with love and laughter, family events, sports, and travelling.
Arnold was known for his handsome smile and engaging personality. As a businessman and active member in North Bay, he was respected by many in the community. Everyone loved "Arnie" Cline.
The children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren want all to know how much we loved and admired this amazing man. His positive outlook on life and his strong work ethic remained with him until his final day. We will cherish our memories of him, and will be forever grateful for his advice and guidance.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Richard Trenker for his years of compassionate care. Dr. Trenker and Arnold developed a wonderful bond and friendship over the years, often poking fun at each other and sharing golf stories.A special thank you goes to the nurses and physicians in CCU and C3 unit at the NBRHC.
A service will be held at Omond Memorial United Church on Friday, January 21 at 2 pm.
Due to COVID restrictions, please confirm your attendance by phoning Omond Church at 705-472-2070 and leaving a message. Proof of vaccination will be required to attend the service. As well, wearing masks and social distancing are mandatory at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family would respectfully request that donations in Arnold's memory be made to The Canadian Cancer Society or Omond Memorial United Church.
