With the heaviest of hearts the family of John Clarke announces his sudden but peaceful passing at home on November 6, 2021 just a few days before his 98th birthday.
John was born on November 12, 1923 in Renfrew County where he spent his childhood playing and fishing in Alice Township. He joined the Army during WWII and when he released, he was well on his way as an apprentice electrician. He spent his working years driving to jobs all over Ontario – the gold mines in Timmins where he became a loyal Stompin Tom fan, the nickel mines in Sudbury, the uranium mines in Elliot Lake and later in his career at the nuclear plants in Douglas Point and Darlington. He even had a hand installing the electrical service to the underground Norad in the 1950s, Cassellholme in the 1960s and Towers Department Store in the 1970s. Once retired, he was busy installing ceiling fans all over town when he wasn’t picking up and delivering his grandkids.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife “Edythe” Betty Clarke. He was the loving Dad of John (Joyce), Kathy (Gerry), Sandi, and Ean (Joanne) and proud Poppa of Linda, Jeremy, Jeffrey (Joanna), Jamie (Zoe), Kelly (Steve), Tracey (Jordan), Kristie (Adam), Dylan (Alex),Terri (Jeremy), Zach (Melissa) and Great old Poppa to Courtney, Paige, Jayden, Jenna, Joshua, Leah, Will, Dalia, Jakob, Rose, and Liam.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Agnes (Harvey) Clarke, his brothers Gordon &, Earl, and sisters Mary & Patsy. He is survived by his youngest brother Glen Clarke of Pembroke and many nieces and nephews.
John was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 23 and Calvin Presbyterian Church.
