December 10, 1941 - April 20, 2024

Alfredo “Fred” Celebre passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on April 20, 2024, at Cassellholme at the age of 82. He is now reunited with the love of his life, Anna Celebre (nee Cirullo). Alfredo was born on December 10, 1941 in Rende, Cosenza, Italy and settled in North Bay, Ontario, Canada where he married Anna 56 years ago. He will be dearly missed by his devoted son and daughter-in-law Carlo and Catharine, and his precious grandchildren, Dante and Gianna.

Alfredo is predeceased by his parents Pasquale and Rosina Celebre. He is survived by his brothers Antonio Celebre (Pina), Luigi Celebre, and Giuseppe Celebre (Saverina).  Alfredo is also predeceased by his brother Mario Celebre (Carmela), his sisters Yolanda Scaglione (Luigi) and Filomena Cesario (Umberto), and sister-in-law Maryanne Cirullo.  He will be deeply missed by his sister-in-law Lena Pavone (Giuseppe predeceased) and brother-in-law Mariano Cirullo (Vicky).  Alfredo will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.

Alfredo was a well-respected brick layer and worked on many of the buildings in North Bay and area.  He was a lifelong member and supporter of the Davedi Club and was very proud of his Italian heritage. In his younger years, Alfredo was a semi-professional cyclist and spent many years racing throughout his beloved homeland.

Alfredo was a person of faith who was devoted to St. Anthony. His passion for singing and his beautiful voice brought pleasure and joy to many. Tending to his vegetable garden and preparing traditional Italian meals brought Alfredo tranquillity. His kindness, hard work, wisdom and sense of humour are characteristics that followed him wherever he went. Alfredo will be most remembered for his devotion to his precious wife Anna and living his marriage vows to the fullest. The unconditional love he had for his family and friends was a blessing to us all. We find comfort that Alfredo is now at peace.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the entire Cassellholme staff. Their compassionate care of Alfredo is something that will never be forgotten.  We are forever grateful.

Visitation will take place at the McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Church on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at the All Saints Mausoleum.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Cassellholme Home for the Aged in memory of Alfredo Celebre, or the Alzheimer Society of North Bay & District would be greatly appreciated by the family.
