It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry, beloved husband of the late Betty (née Kinch), loving father of Tracy Cant (predeceased by his wife Cynthia Poupore in 2013) of Victoria and Michael Cant and his wife Isabelle Papillon of Montréal, and cherished grandfather to Leah, Henri, and Charles. Dear brother of Margaret Crocker, and the late Ian Cant. Terry departed peacefully on Monday, March 4th, 2024 at Water’s Edge Care Community.

Professionally, Terry dedicated his life to education, serving as a high school teacher for many years before assuming the role of Principal at Chippewa Secondary School. His commitment to shaping the minds of young people left an indelible mark on the lives of countless students and colleagues alike. His passion for education and unwavering belief in the potential of students of all learning abilities motivated him each day and provided him with some of his fondest memories.  Terry continued his own journey of lifelong learning volunteering as member of the North Bay Police Services Board and with Community Care Action Centre.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Terry was a man of great faith. As an elder and active member of the congregation of Calvin Presbyterian Church, he exemplified the values of compassion, empathy, and service to others. His steadfast devotion to his faith enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his presence within the congregation will be deeply missed.

Terry leaves behind a legacy of love, integrity, good humour, unwavering faith, and optimism. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer Society of Canada in memory of Terry Cant. https://alzheimer.ca/en
