The family of Richard Campbell would like to announce his passing on Sunday, March 13, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. He spent his final few months in the care of the nurses and doctors on C3 at North Bay Regional Health Center and we wish to offer our heartful thanks to everyone who participated in his care. He had nothing but good things to say about all of you. He will be greatly missed by his wife Dianne, children Alexis and Adam (Kimberly), and grandchildren Austin and Leo as well as many close friends and family members.

Rick was a gentle and thoughtful man, often putting the needs of others before himself. He spent his career testing children and young adults in schools across Northern Ontario to ensure they received the help they needed and deserved in the classroom. In retirement, Rick became an excellent photographer, taking shots from Toronto Street festivals, to Duchesne Falls and waterfront flowers, to Alaskan mountains. His photos were much more stunning than he gave himself credit for. He has passed on to his family the gift of being able to see the world through his eyes.

Aside from photography, Rick’s greatest joys were family and puns, and not necessarily in that order. Conversations with loved ones and playing with his grandkids were daily highlights for him. His sense of humor escorted him through his last weeks and days with a smile on his face and a happy heart. To those that knew him, it may not come as a surprise that someone once referred to him as a comic genius. It may also not come as a surprise that it was him.

Cremation has taken place and the family will be holding a small service in the summer.
