Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday May 8, 2008. Anita Burnie was the beloved wife of the late Jack Burton (2002), in her 86th year. Dearly loved mother of Jill Steele (Bill), Jan Moxey (Ken), Lorraine Gougeon (David), Mary Lou Pearce (Dave), Greg Burton, Grant Burton (Denise), and Shari Cole (Ron). Proud grandmother of Heather & Melissa, Emily & Jeff, Jenny & Katie, Jennifer, Kristen, Nick & Brian, Hayley & Julia; and great-grandmother of ten. Predeceased by her sister Lois McIntyre. Anita was the best example of what it means to be a wonderful wife and mother. She provided unconditional love with a gentle spirit while maintaining a sense of humour and zest for life. Raising her children to value education and independence, she delighted with pride in the accomplishments of her family. Anita loved her home on the lake but she also enjoyed traveling. She cherished life long friendships as well as meeting new friends from all over the world. Her kindness and thoughtful compassion for everyone in her life will be sadly missed. Friends may call at MARTYN FUNERAL HOME on Monday May 12th from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 13th at Laurier Ave. United Church at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. A donation to Laurier Ave United Church, VON, Red Cross or Near North Palliative Care Network would be gratefully acknowledged as expressions of sympathy.
