BROWN, Rooney H.R.W.

Passed away peacefully at the North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Thursday, March 24, 2011. Rooney was the beloved husband of Ruth Eleanor (nee Randall) and the late O'Dell Madeline (nee Hebert), he was 87 years old. Loving father of Carol Richardson (Jim) of La Palma, California, Nola Verge of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Barry Brown (Rita), Garry Brown (Norma), Gail Crowder (Eddie Dumont), Kenny Brown (Pauline), Peter Brown (Marg), Tim Brown (Kim), Glenn Brown (Lisa-Dawn) all of North Bay, Fred Brown (Maria) of St.Catherines, David Brown (Shelly) of Courtice, Rooney Brown Jr. (Liz) of Niagara Falls, and chosen father of Lance Stewart (Carol), Tammy Brunne (Steve Hevenor), Melissa Morin (Marty) all also of North Bay and Chris Stewart (Diana) of Temiskaming. He will be sadly missed by his many grandchildren and very many great grandchildren. Rooney was predeceased by his grandchildren Justin Brown and Helen Verge, by his parents Herb and Viola Brown, by his sister Muriel Freeland (Fred), by his son-in-law George Verge and by his daughter-in-law Becky Brown. Rooney served with the Navy during the Second World War and after he was known to be always willing to lend a helping hand to all. He worked for ViaRail becoming their Ticket Agent in North Bay; as well he co-founded Brown’s Towing in 1950. A Funeral Service will be held from St. John's Anglican Church on Monday, March 28th at 10:00 am. Spring Interment to follow at the Terrace Lawn Cemetery.
