Mary Brown

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mary Catherine Brown (Tate) (1948-2021) share the sad news of her sudden passing on December 29, 2021.

Predeceased by her parents Betty and Ralph Tate and sister Judith McLaughlin (Gerry); survived by her devoted husband David; her loving children Kristopher and Kara; her cherished grandson Eric (father Mike); her brother Mike Tate (Smokey Lake, Alberta); and her nephew Mark (Angela) and niece Amanda (Brent).

Mary personified stability and unwavering love in all that she did. Her calm, patient and confident disposition made all around her feel safe and welcome. From her career as a lab technician at St. Joseph’s and Civic hospitals in North Bay; to volunteering at her children’s schools; to gardening with the Heritage Gardeners; she engaged diligently with passion, purpose, and grace. She loved to read; follow and discuss all sports; partake in yoga classes; hand make beautiful scrapbooks and photo albums; travel with her sister; and lead family traditions and holidays. Mary had a keen ability to manage everything to ensure her family was offered every possible opportunity to pursue and actualize every dream they could ever imagine.

Her beloved grandson, Eric, captured a very special and significant part of her heart. Her love for him was a source of immense physical and emotional strength; and the love he returned afforded Mary an additional level of delight and purpose in her years following retirement.

Her family will forever cherish and honour the nobility and kindness of her character and the example she lived and imparted upon them.

If desired, the family would appreciate donations in Mary’s memory be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA).

Arrangements entrusted to Basic Cremation Services 705-476-4444.
