(February 08, 1940 – January 16, 2016) – With the love of his family Don passed away at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Saturday, January 16, 2016. Don is survived by his dear wife, Shirley Anne (Ingraham) of 53 years, and children Nancy Plume (Robert), Jaime (Vally Barbisan), and Wendy Turcotte (Brian). He will be dearly missed but leaves many wonderful memories with his grandchildren Rachael and Gavin Plume, Celina and Venessa Brown and Leea and Vance Turcotte. He is predeceased by his parents Harry Douglas Brown and Hannah Fellbaum. He is survived by his brother Frank (Doolie). Don will be missed by his sisters in law Vivian (Doug Becks), Patricia Sutheran (Peter, deceased), Marian (Mark Cant) and nieces and nephews. Don was retired from the Ministry of Transportation. In retirement, he enjoyed driving the school bus for Stock Transportation. Besides being proud of his grandchildren and participating in their lives, he loved puttering in the yard and following sports. Don was involved in the sport Community beginning with minor hockey, Centennial Hockey, Battalion Hockey and the North Bay Referee Association. He was awarded the Pete Handley ‘Friend of Sport’ Award in 2015. He was a Charter Member of the Corpus Christi Knights of Columbus Council 12106 serving as Financial Secretary for many years. He was an active 4th Degree member of the Albanel Assembly. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at the North Bay Regional Health Centre and St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto for the care and compassion offered to Don and family.  Sincere thanks to family, friends and neighbours for their support. A special thank you to Father Trevor Scarfone, Monsignor Norm Clement, Father Rex Lumine and Padre Stephen Morris. Family will be receiving friends at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Holy Name Parish Building Fund, the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation or to the charity of your choice would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
