It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a strong, loving woman. Joan fought a courageous battle with cancer and during this time she continued to demonstrate love, gratitude and dignity. She always had a warm smile and a kind word for family, friends and strangers alike. Forever an elegant lady who’s softness and generosity deeply touched everyone who knew her. Homemaker extraordinaire, Joan could do anything she put her mind to.

Joan became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1965 and dedicated her life to serving Jehovah God and teaching others about his wonderful promises for the future. She took great comfort in the hope set out at Revelation 21:4 which reads, “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Joan was predeceased by her beloved husband, William “Bill” Boyd (d. 2004). Survived by her precious children Debbie, Kathy (Marc), and Frank (Evelyn). Loved by her beautiful granddaughters Stacy, Roslyn (Jason), Erin and Amy (Sam). Also survived by her siblings Juanita, Beulah, Jim (Diane), Wayne (Linda) and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the following people and organizations: Dr. Graham for her guidance and empathy. Selina from Northeast LHIN’s for arranging care for Joan, always being available and showing patience and kindness. The Nipissing Serenity Hospice for providing care for Joan and her family. Special mention to Monique, Brittany, Twinkle, Angela, Lisa, Sabrina, Monica, both Cassies and Cécile for their outstanding dedication and concern. VON nurses Cheryl, A.J. and Sarah for their devotion, care and advice. Paramed workers Cheryl, Victoria, Deanne, Shelly and Jennifer for bringing a little sunshine to Joan’s days. Our dear friends who supported us throughout this journey, Carolyn Brose, Trulla Bayer, along with the Lakeview and Widdifield congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society via JW.ORG or to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice would be appreciated.

The memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 2:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 1120 Premier Road, North Bay. We respectfully request that guests wear masks.
