It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Helen Bourdon, aged 85, who left us after a valiant and incredibly courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving and dedicated family.

She was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose strength was drawn from her family, her unwavering faith, and her loyal companion, Jake.  Throughout her life, Helen exemplified resilience, grace, and love. She navigated all of life's successes and challenges with a joy and determination that inspired all who knew her. Her warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to cross her path.  Helen is survived by her children Rick (Carole), Joe (Jackie), Kathy, Terri (Dan), her twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Helen's devotion to her family was unparalleled. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, creating countless memories that will be treasured for generations to come. Her love knew no bounds, and her presence brought joy and comfort to those around her.  In addition to her role as a devoted matriarch, Helen was a pillar of strength in her community. She dedicated herself to helping others in any way she could whether with her church or community, she put her heart into everything.  Helen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul.  While Helen's physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew and loved her.

Her memory is a true blessing, and her courage and devotion will continue to inspire us all.  Helen’s family extends their deepest gratitude to all those who stood alongside her during her courageous battle. The incredible support from the caring doctors, nurses, and administrators at the Sudbury Cancer Clinic and the North Bay Hospital was a source of strength and comfort during a very challenging time. Special appreciation is extended to Amy and the rest of the Care Partners team for their unwavering dedication and kindness, Dr. Mike Leckie for his years of compassionate care, and Dr. Jinnah for her empathy and support to both Helen and the family.  The family expresses deep gratitude to the exceptional team at Serenity Hospice, whose unmatched care and compassion provided solace and support during Helen’s final journey.

Funeral arrangements have been made for Friday, May 10, 2024, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church in North Bay, followed by a celebration luncheon.  All who wish to pay their respects are welcome to attend.  In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be directed to the Nipissing Serenity Hospice in honour of Helen, whose legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire all who knew her.
