It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Loni Anna Boesche (nee Brandt) announces her peaceful passing on February 3, 2022 at the Algonquin Nursing Home in Mattawa at the age of 90.
Survived by her loving husband Gunter Boesche of 68 years, son Steven (Mary Antonioni) and her cherished grandchildren, Ryan, Jennifer, Alex and Curtis.
A kind, sweet, gentle and loving wife, mom, Omi and aunt, she loved spending time at her home on Forest Lake (Sundridge) and at the family cottage on Sausage Lake (Trout Creek). She could often be found meticulously tending her flower garden which she was very proud of.
Her greatest joy in life was her family and she taught us by example - love and compassion for others.
Her journey began on April 22, 1931 – born in Marienburg West Prussia, a historical city founded in 1274 by the Teutonic Order on the river Nogat - home to the world’s largest brick castle.
As a young girl, her family of 8 children became war refugees and fled to Stade on the river Elbe in North-Western Germany. It was in Stade where she met the love of her life, Gunter Boesche, sharing a total of 74 years together.
Together they immigrated to Toronto, Canada where they were married on October 20, 1953. They lived in the Beaches, raised their only son Steven, sailed Lake Ontario, made lifelong friends, traveled throughout the world and eventually built a home and moved to Forest Lake (Sundridge).
She will be greatly missed but never forgotten and we are thankful for her love and support.
The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the amazing staff at the Algonquin Nursing Home in Mattawa. The compassion and care provided by the staff helping her through the final 2 years of her 8 year battle with Alzheimer’s, will always be appreciated.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family celebration of life on her 91st birthday which appropriately is Earth Day. Condolences may be offered online at www.martynfh.com.
