Blakely obit

Passed away peacefully at Cassellhome on Sunday April 3rd 2022, just 2 days shy of his 88th birthday.

He leaves behind his beloved son Robert along with daughters, Pat, Jean and Lori as well as 10 grandchildren and 9 great grand children. Lawrence is also survived by his sister Anna Phillips.

His close friend and relative Corey Petrie of North Bay will also miss Lawrence.

Lawrence was born and raised in Chatham New Brunswick and eventually settled in Toronto where he had a 33 year career with Continental Can. Upon retirement in the 90’s he settled in North Bay.

From the time he was a youngster, he had a generous heart and a strong work ethic. If he wanted something, he worked for it.

He loved the outdoors, and had a passion for fishing, especially lake trout. On any given weekend in the spring or summer, he could be found heading to his favourite spots within the Diver area. In his younger years, he fished salmon in Lake Ontario, always trying to earn top spot in the famous salmon derby.

During retirement in his spare time, he could be found on his property cutting wood to heat his home or sitting in his garage enjoying a drink with his family or friends. He will be missed by all who knew him.

A heartfelt thank you to VON Home Care, NBRHC Cedar Lodge, Nipissing Paramedic Services and more recently Cassellhome, for the care and kindness shown to Lawrence over the past few years.

As per his wishes, there will be no visitation or service.  Cremation has taken place.
