1938-2006 - The family announces with sorrow, his death on Saturday, October 28th 2006, in North Bay, at the age of 67 years. Son of the late Lucien and Jeanne (née St-Amour) Blais. Loving husband of Madeleine (née Labelle) Blais of Sturgeon Falls. Dear father of Diane Savignac (Marcel) of Verner, Carmen Marcoux (Benot) of Simiane Collongue, France, Guy of Ottawa, Anne Bourbonnais (David) North Bay, Gilles (Dawna) of Timmins. Survived by his brothers and sisters Gabriel Blais (Leda) of Sturgeon Falls, Pauline Laforest (Clément) of Val des Monts PQ, Jeannine Hamill(Bill Doug) of Ottawa, Denis of Ottawa, Bernard Blais(Barbara) of Fort Mc Murray, Alberta, Richard Blais (Debbie) of Rodthesay New Brunswick. Predeceased by his brother Gaetan and by his sisters Jocelyne Paquette (Robert Ottawa) and Gisèle Blais. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren Gilbert, Victor, Pierre, Charles, Amy, Sophie, Pete, Émilie and by one great grandson Jacob and soon to arrive great grandchildren Brooklyn and Daniel. Donald was retired from the Town of Sturgeon Falls. He worked for 33 years in Public Works and retired as superintendant. A proud member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2566, Sturgeon Falls, he held various positions on the executive, his last being financial secretary. A skilled craftsman, Mr. Blais was a very hard worker, an avid fisherman and was happiest when working in his rose bushes. The family will receive friends at the THÉORT BOURGEOIS FUNERAL HOME, Sturgeon Falls, Monday from 7-9p.m. Tuesday friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be held Wednesday, November 1st, 2006 at 11a.m. in Sacré Cur church, Sturgeon Falls. Donations to the Northern Cancer Research Foundation would be appreciated.
