Pat was predeceased by his beloved wife Hope in 1997. He is lovingly remembered by his only surviving sibling, Helen Sandin. He did “more with less“ than anyone we know. Pat was a source of love and constant encouragement to his grandchildren and is sadly missed by Andrew and Jane, Martha and Susan, Elizabeth, James and Erin, Anna and Simon, Jordan and Jeremy, Barrie Schultz, Alexandra, Genevieve and Suzanne, Ashley, Victoria, and Louise ; great- grandchildren Chelsey and Samantha, Calum, David and Grace, Anna, Thomas, Gabriel, Owen and Audrey and many nieces and nephews.

He provided dedicated and creative leadership in many community organizations including New Liskeard Municipal Council, Northern Ontario Advisory Board for Economic Development, Northeastern Association for Community Living, Temiskaming Board of Health, Temiskaming Children's Aid Society, New Liskeard Minor Hockey Association, St. Paul's United Church and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Temiskaming Masonic Lodge, Nippissing East Grand Masonic Lodge, Oddfellows, Canadian Legion Branch 33, and the Progressive Conservative Party. Pat committed his life to his family, his community and Northern Ontario. In New Liskeard during the nine years after Hope's death, he received care and support from many people but the family particularly thanks Victoria Plante.
