Also fondly remembered by Brenda's sisters, Kathryn (Harold), Heather (Michel), Bonny (Fred) and their families. After a valiant struggle with lung cancer, John died peacefully at home on March 12th, 2008 surrounded by his family. An electrical engineering graduate of Queen's University, John retired from Hydro One after 33 years of dedicated service. He worked in a variety of roles related to power system operation and telecommunications. John lived life with an enthusiastic energy and an endless scientific curiosity about everything. With an avid interest in nature, art, medicine, philosophy, religion, politics, sports, culinary arts and design, John lived life to the fullest from back country snowboarding in the Rockies to exploring the complexities of existence and the mysteries of life. John had a great capacity for acceptance of all people and gave generously of himself to others. He had a strong sense of community responsibility and volunteered in many activities including coaching minor hockey and soccer.
