BIDGOOD, William John “Billy”

Posted

With his loving family by his side, Billy passed away on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the age of 71. The only child of William and Dorothy Bidgood, Billy was born December 18, 1936 in North York and was raised from his early years by his maternal Grandparents, William and Eva-Cora Ross along with his chosen sister, the late Diane Partridge. A quiet, gentle, reliable and lovable man, Billy will be most remembered by his family as having a wonderful sense of humour and an amazing ability to make people smile. Even during the most difficult days of his illness, Billy still managed to make others laugh. Following his high school graduation, Billy went to work for Bell Canada driving the “little green truck” and later years in cable repair until his retirement in 1992, after 37 years of service. He and Bobbi met at a Knight's of Columbus dance in 1956 and married on November 29, 1958 in Bobbi's hometown of Powassan. Billy will be profoundly missed by his loving wife Roberta “Bobbi” (nee O'Connor) of 50 years; and his children Cori (Shawn Daly), Michael; and Kelly-Sue (Rob Carbonneau). He will be lovingly remembered by his Grandchildren Michael Jr., Nicholas, Jillian; and Tyler. Billy delighted far more in helping someone than in looking out for himself; and never spoke ill of anyone. He had a deep fondness for nature and loved the peacefulness and beauty of Trout Lake where he and his family spent most of their lives. His children hold fond memories of boating and fishing with their father, which was something of a religion to Billy. The Bidgood family wishes to express their profound gratitude to Dr. Senior and the NBGH 3rd floor Palliative Care Nurses Helen, Lori Anne, Teena; and Darlene for all of their caring and support. Many thanks also to Chaplans Herb Nye and Richard Smith for listening and providing encouragement during this difficult time. A celebration of Billy's life will take place at HILLSIDE FUNERAL SERVICES, 362 Airport Road, on Sunday, May 25, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial service to follow at 4 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the N.B.G.H. Foundation - A.L.S. Support Care “William Bidgood Foundation”.
