Passed away at his residence, Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at the age of 18 years. Nick was the loved son of Tracy and Peter Balen and dear brother of Stephanie. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandparents, Fern and Mike Balen and Norm and Norma Till, his great-grandmother, Florence Levison; he will also be sadly missed by special niece, Grace, aunts, Kathryn Van Erp and Linda Scott, uncle, Mark Balen and numerous cousins and friends. Nick was a former student at Widdifield Secondary School where he developed his passion and skill for the electrical and construction trades. Nick particularly enjoyed the friendship he had with his mentors working in the building trades, his pals at North Rider's and poker nights with his buddies. The family is grateful to all of you. Family and friends may pay their respects at McGUINTY FUNERAL HOME, Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral service will be conducted at McGuinty Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow at Forest Lawn Crematorium. As expressions of sympathy donations to Canadian Mental Health Association or charity of choice would be gratefully appreciated by the family.
