It is with heavy hearts that the family of Beverley Baker announce her passing on April 16, 2024 at the age of 87 years, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mom is predeceased by her loving husband, Ronald Baker; her parents Arnold and Elizabeth McDonald; and siblings Joy Barclay (Earl also deceased) and Dennis McDonald (Connie).

Left to mourn her passing and to celebrate her life are her children; Michael (Carol Mackey), Cathy Love (Grant), Ronald Alan (Lynn Lussier-Baker) and Brian (Wendy), as well as her sister Barbara Belanger (Ray, deceased) and her brother Mel McDonald (Tina).

Mom will be sorely missed by her grandchildren; Graham Love (Sarah), Courtney Giroux, Logan Baker, Ashley Baker (Jessica), Carson Baker, Justin Baker and Nico Paoletti. Her seven great grandchildren: Katie and James, Charleigh and Kolton, Madison and Braxton and Xyla will miss Mom’s tender ways.

Mom’s life journey began in Parry Sound, Ontario, as she often proudly bragged, “the same birthplace as Bobby Orr”. Mom later moved to North Bay, where she met a tall footballer named Ronnie Baker, and the two were later married. In the mid-seventies, the couple, with their four kids in tow, moved to New Liskeard, where Dad joined Northern Telephone and Mom started with C.I.A.G. insurance on Armstrong Street. Later, the company changed its name to The Cooperators and Mom moved with them to the mall. After Dad passed away in 1987, Mom moved back to North Bay, where she resided until her passing.

Mom will be remembered for her amazing and often used smile, her sense of humour, as well as her warm personality that made her such a dear friend to all who had the privilege to know her. But most importantly, she will be remembered for her fierce dedication to family.

Mom enjoyed being a hockey Mom, sewing, reading, quilting, curling, golf, church and her beloved North Bay Battalion.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Moore, Dr. Niebergall, the amazing staff at Barclay House Retirement Residence, where Mom enjoyed nine years as a resident, as well as the caring and compassionate staff at Nipissing Serenity Hospice, where she spent her final days.

Mom’s funeral will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the Calvin Presbyterian Church, 401 First Avenue West, North Bay, Ontario. All are welcome to attend the general visitation at 11:00, followed by the service at 12:00 noon, and a light lunch at 1:00. For those who cannot attend, a Zoom link will be provided on the Martyn Funeral Home website. Interment will follow at a later date at the Pioneer Cemetery in New Liskeard, Ontario, where she will rest with Dad.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Nipissing Serenity Hospice in North Bay at “nipissingserenityhospice.ca”.
