BAINES, Thomas W

Peacefully at Cassellholme on Wednesday, May 23rd 2012, Thomas W. Baines of North Bay at the age of 86. Husband of the late Mary T. (Dorrie) Axler (1996), son of the late Cecil and Lois Baines and brother of the late Evelyn Whittingham (2007). Lovingly remembered by sons Bob (North Bay) and Bill (British Columbia), daughter-in-law Barbara, nieces and nephews, and devoted friend Joan Irwin. He has grandchildren Star Hoerauf (San Fransisco), Dylan Miklashek (Brisbane, Australia) and great grandchildren Myla and Ruby (San Francisco), Cole and Lola (Brisbane). Tom proudly served in the Canadian Forces and after the war he continued to serve with the Algonquin Regiment for many years. He was later employed with the Ontario Ministry of Transport. In retirement Tom’s favourite pastime was road travel within Canada and he liked to take the time to enjoy the sites along the way to any destination. He was an avid bird watcher and was one of the founding members of the Nipissing Naturalist Club.
At Tom’s request, no funeral services will be held. Cremation followed by private interment later at Nipissing Junction Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations to the Nipissing Naturalist Club would be gratefully appreciated.
