It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Ammerata at the North Bay Regional Health Centre on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2019, at the age of 91. Predeceased by her husband Giuseppe “Neddy” Ammerata. Maria and Neddy wed in 1957 in Italy. Long-time residents of North Bay, together they raised their four children: Lucio (Diana), Marisa, Sandra (Jamie) and Carla. Nana adored her 11 grandchildren: Anna Maria (Matt), Joseph, Michael, Stefano (Mattingly), Nicholas (Amanda), Anthony (Jaimie), Sean, Christopher (Triin), Isabella, Reed and Rain and great grandchildren Sienna Maria, Luca and Olivia. Dear sister of Domenico Cervo (Maria Teresa), Lina Carbone (Carmelino-predeceased), Ines Pitaro (Alfredo-predeceased) and Anita Mauro (Vincenzino). Special Zia to Al (Diane), Sandro (Louise) and Jessie Orlando. Predeceased by an infant son Alfonso, an infant granddaughter, Vittoria, her parents Francesco and Filomena Cervo (nee Lucente), her sisters: Assunta Scozzafava (Adolfo), Rita Madrigrano (Antonio) and Vittoria Cervo and her special in-laws Adelina and Leonardo (Mr. Frank) Orlando. Family and friends may pay their respects at McGuinty Funeral Home (North Bay) on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, from 11 am –1 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Peter the Apostle Church on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, at 1:30 pm. Entombment at All Saints Mausoleum. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the St. Peter the Apostle Church Building Fund or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. The family wishes a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Terrence Rotondo, Dr. Ann Marie McKenna, all the nurses and PSWs for their exceptional care and compassion.
