My name is Jeff J. Serran and I am a lifetime resident of North Bay. My family was raised here; my father still lives in the same house I was born in. My wife Tammy & I raised our children here – we are proud to have stake in this community.

I am currently the executive director of Downtown North Bay (The Downtown Improvement Area) – a not-for-profit organization whose mission statement is to preserve and develop the heart of North Bay. The passion that I have for the heart (and of course to the city as a whole) continues my drive that I bring as a City Councillor.

I am completing my first term as a city councillor (and all of the committees I served with over the past four years) and my other political experience comes via the Near North District School Board where I served as their Vice-Chair. I am a former director with the North Bay & District Chamber of Commerce and served as a director/treasurer on the provincial board of the Ontario Business Improvement Area Association (OBIAA).

My platform for this election continues to be simple, honest and straight forward – I want to continue to be the voice of the citizens of North Bay – whom all are my neighbours. I work for the citizens of North Bay and will guide my decisions for a better North Bay with common sense and doing what is best for all.

My focus during my second term will be (but not limited to)

OPEN & TRANSPARENT WORK – I believe in accountability and transparency. Just like my first term on council (I believe) we need a city that has proper governance and a group that will openly work together as a team;

WEST FERRIS REDEVELOPMENT – and infilling of our business nodes throughout the city – look at our current stock – and fill in those vacancies. This will help drive our job growth that will give our citizens employment opportunities;

TAXES – we need to look at what we are doing to the citizens, and businesses, with the increases we have received over the past several years. We need to realize that the majority of our community cannot afford continual increases. We need to get work done, but with strong fiscal management and responsible decisions;

ARTS & CULTURE – North Bay has many talented individuals. We need to foster our artists (of all types), promote and support them. This is an economic driver that will not only stimulate our economy, but will promote North Bay as a destination place;

YOUTH – stop the out-migration of this valuable resource. Listen to them and give them a reason to want to stay in this great city. Make us an AGE FRIENDLY COMMUNITY for ALL AGES;

TOURISM – we need to make our great city a four season destination spot – work with the experts in the field;

You can reach me via my email [email protected] or at my home (705) 495-1573.

On October 22, 2018 I humbly ask for your support and re-elect me to city council.
