WHL Roundup: Geekie, Wheatcroft each have goal, assist as Ice blank Hitmen

WINNIPEG — Conor Geekie and Chase Wheatcroft each had a goal and an assist as the Winnipeg Ice blanked the Calgary Hitmen 4-0 in Western Hockey League action on Tuesday. 

Mikey Milne had his 29th goal of the season, while Matthew Savoie connected for his 27th.

In his WHL debut, Dawson Cowan stopped all 23 shots for the Ice (40-9-3-2), who are second in the Eastern Conference and have already locked up a playoff spot. Ethan Buenaventura turned aside 28 shots for the Hitmen (20-29-6-2).

WARRIORS 7, WHEAT KINGS 1

BRANDON, Man. -- Eric Alarie and Brayden Yager each scored twice in Moose Jaw's road win. 

Ryder Korczak, Martin Rysavy and Robert Baco also scored for the Warriors (32-20-3-2), while Jake Chiasson connected on the lone goal for Brandon (28-20-3-2).

REBELS 5, BLADES 2

RED DEER, Alta. -- Arshdeep Bains scored twice, while Ben King, Talon Brigley and Kalan Lind had singles for the Rebels (39-16-2-1).

Egor Sidorov and Jayden Wiens had singles for Saskatoon (32-20-3-1).

TIGERS 5, PATS 4, SO

MEDICINE HAT, Alta. -- Brendan Lee scored twice, including the third-period goal that forced OT to lead Medicine Hat (11-41-3-1). Pavel Bocharov and Steven Arp had singles.

Cole Dubinsky, Connor Bedard, Tanner Howe and Stanislav Svozil scored for Regina (22-27-3-2).

THUNDERBIRDS 5, AMERICANS 1

SEATTLE -- Reid Schaefer scored twice, while Lukas Svejkovsky, Samuel Knazko and Sam Popowich had singles for the Thunderbirds (35-15-4-2).

Samuel Huo had the lone goal for Tri-City (15-36-5-0).

SILVERTIPS 3, CHIEFS 0

SPOKANE, Wa. -- Alex Swetlikoff scored his 26th goal of the season, while Austin Roest and Matthew Ng also had singles for Everett (39-9-3-5). 

The Chiefs fell to 19-33-4-1 on the season.
