PARAMUS, N.J. — Sean O'Hair shot a 2-under 69 to take the early 36-hole lead at The Northern Trust and keep alive his hopes of going home to Aronimink for more than just the member-guest.

O'Hair is a member at Aronimink, which is just outside Philadelphia and is hosting the third FedEx Cup playoff event. He is at No. 112 and has two weeks to get into the top 70. Even with a strong start in the FedEx Cup opener, O'Hair isn't overly excited.

He's been around this game too long. And there are too many players on his heels, including Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C. Hadwin shot a second round of 6-under 65 to sit one stroke behind O'Hair.

Phil Mickelson opened with four straight birdies until some late mistakes led to a 69, leaving him in a group with Hadwin at 6 under.

Tiger Woods played in the afternoon.
