Several Nipissing and Parry Sound area young entrepreneurs are on their way to becoming successful, prosperous businesses owners, thanks in part to their participation in The Business Centre Nipissing Parry Sound Starter Company Program.

Since the program’s inception in 2014, 8 new businesses have opened their doors and 6 more have expanded in order to meet the growing demands for their products and services.  Over $60,000 in grant funding has allowed these businesses to introduce marketable, innovative products and services into the region while providing 18 people with positive, meaningful employment.  In addition, there are currently 8 new businesses awaiting their pitch results. The businesses cover a wide variety of industries including manufacturing, service and retail.

The Starter Company Program is available to individuals who are not attending school full time and are between 18 and 29 years of age. The program incorporates workshops, professional mentorship and consultation with The Business Centre’s Project Coordinator.  Participants who successfully complete the program are eligible to pitch for up to $5,000 in grant funding to assist with startup or expansion costs.

Starter Company Program funding and grants are provided by the Province of Ontario through the Ontario Youth Job Strategy.
