YMCA and Canadian Mental Health Association launch new wellness program for seniors

The mind-body connection is so important in your overall health

The North Bay YMCA and Canadian Mental Health Association, North Bay and District, are launching a new wellness program.

Y Wellness is an 8-week free program designed for seniors, where they will learn about how to stay healthy in mind, body, and spirit.

The program begins March 1st and includes classes like aquafit, yoga and four mental wellness classes hosted by the CMHA. Register by calling 705-497-9622!  

“The mind-body connection is so important in your overall health, and we are very excited to partner with the Canadian Mental Health Association, North Bay and District, to offer Y Wellness for Seniors, which will focus on both the physical and mental health of participants,” said Kendra MacIsaac, VP of Health and Wellness at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario.

“Less stigma, more awareness, and more acceptance: The conversation around mental health is changing in a good way, and we are focusing on it like never before,” said Mary Davis, CEO, Canadian Mental Health Association, North Bay.

Micheline McWhirter, Project Manager for The Village Collective Impact Project at Canadore said: “We were happy to partner with The North Bay YMCA as part of the project, to help reduce the risk of isolation for seniors in our region.
