Local members of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada will be hosting a coordinated food drive in support of local food banks and soup kitchens across the north to provide assistance for those using these facilities on a regular basis.

Many women have been involved in collecting food, coordinating local parish drives, recruiting volunteers and will be accepting money and food donations in an activity this weekend according to a news release.

Saturday, April 14, in North Bay - Jeff & Tanis’ No Frills, 300 Lakeshore Drive 9 am – 3 pm.

The community is invited to participate by giving food or making a donation at the location.

Diocesan President Elizabeth Currier invites communities to come together to help the League help others.  “There are over 200,000 homeless persons in Canada.  Homelessness in turn causes many issues, a main one being hunger. Soup kitchens and food banks help feed the many homeless or “hidden homeless” shares Elizabeth.  “Our soup kitchens and food banks get many donations in the winter season but now the shelves are in desperate need to be restocked. Members of the Catholic Women’s League of Canada from across the diocese recognize that “Hunger Knows No Season” so we are asking our communities to once again be generous in their donations of non-perishable food items. Please help us to help others.”

The Catholic Women’s League of Canada is a national organization, rooted in gospel values, calling its members to holiness through service to the people of God.
