The Children’s Aid Society of the District of Nipissing and Parry Sound has announced that Savannah Lapierre is the successful recipient of the $1,000 - 2019 Ronald L. Lees Bursary Award. This bursary will assist with her post-secondary studies.
The award is named after Ronald Lees, who was the executive director of the local Society for 25 years.
“It’s very touching to read stories from these young men and women, how they have and continue to demonstrate incredible resilience in the face of trauma, adversity and significant challenges, “said Board Chair, Darlene Vanderlee.
“This year we received an unprecedented number of applications, we struggled as a board to select only one recipient” Vanderlee stated.
The Society also recognized Brittany McQuarrie, Stéphane Levesque, Nikolas Murphy, Abbigail Russell, and Jessie Gingras who received a $500 bursary.
The Ron L. Lees Adoption Bursary was established in 2014 to promote continued education. The bursary is funded solely by community donations.
The agency welcomes any private or corporate sponsorships to assist in the continued funding of this educational bursary for children and youth adopted by the Children’s Aid Society of the District of Nipissing and Parry Sound.
