North Bay Police were kept very busy in the North Bay and Callander area Friday as a result of several incidents created by Mother Nature.

"Reports included 14 incidents of wires being reported down. Assisting Ontario Hydro and North Bay Public Works, all the incidents were handled efficiently and no injuries were reported," said Constable John Schultz.

"North Bay Police commend people for their safe approach this weekend and also remind people that downed power lines are dangerous. Never touch them."

  • For safety’s sake, always assume that a fallen power line is live.
  • Avoid touching the downed line, stay back at least 10 metres and call 911 immediately to report a fallen power line.
  • Avoid touching anything, such as a car, object or equipment that is in contact with a fallen power line.
  • Avoid driving over a fallen power line.
